Being both Artsy AND Fartsy

Sat Jan 10, 2009, 7:41 PM
I'm trying to get myself back into an art-making mood and I find keeping in touch with other artists is
usually good for that. I've found that I'm making a lot less art since university and a large part of that is that I'm not surrounded by other artists anymore. These days, I'm surrounded by people who like to smoke pot and play games and watch movies, so much of the time, that's what I'm doing. I figure I need to reach out and get in touch with some fellow artists. It's like a support group. "Hi, my name is Paul, and I'm an art-oholic. It's been 14 days since I last made any art..."

I'm working on a sculpt of a dragon slayer chick sitting inside a dragon's skull. So far I have it about 90% completed, the bottom jaw and the chick are finished and painted and the top part of the skull is mostly sculpted, but I've been dragging my ass finishing it up. I just moved my studio to the spare bedroom, it's still a mess, but I'm hoping to get settled and get working in here soon. Hopefully I'll have a picture to show soon, the way it's going so far, I think it's really going to be awesome when it's done.

I'm hoping to do some more work with ink and digital colouring. I've done some dabbling in these areas before with some good results, but I think with a little more practice I can start making some really great stuff.

I have to agree with the fact that other artists encourage more art. and "playing too much W.o.W" is always bad for distractions. lol good luck though I look forward to seeing the new work.

When this girl at the art museum asked me whom I liked better, Monet or Manet, I said, "I like mayonnaise." She just stared at me, so I said it again, louder. Then she left. I guess she went to try to find some mayonnaise for me.
